The Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (IBEI) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Position to begin in January 2021 for 34 months on a part-time (50%) contract.
The successful candidate will be employed on the research project ENGAGE (Envisioning a New Governance Architecture for a Global Europe). This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme (grant agreement No 962533). The project is focused on the Common Foreign and Security Policy, expanding the scope of the EU’s external engagement and becoming a stronger global actor. ENGAGE comprises 13 universities and research institutes across Europe and is led by ESADE.
Responsibilities include the day-to-day oversight of the project and liaising with network partners, contributing to deliverables in various work-packages, and developing research related to the project into academic publications and other methods of public dissemination.
The candidate must possess a PhD in International Relations, European Studies or Political Science and have a background in EU foreign policy, ideally specialising in CFSP/ESDP. Fluency in English is essential, both orally and written. Previous experience of working in similar projects, at either pre-doctoral or postdoctoral level, would be preferred.
Excellent personal skills and an ability to contribute to collaborative research projects are also essential for this position. While the current COVID-19 restrictions make remote working more necessary, the successful candidate would ideally be located in (or be able to relocate to) Barcelona in order to fully participate in the academic life of IBEI throughout the duration of the project.
The salary is 15.000 Euros gross/year. The start date should be January-February 2021.
Applications must be submitted by 14 December 2020 (10.00 am Barcelona time).
Applications should include:
- Current CV
- Cover letter in English
The application should be saved as one PDF document and sent to: csanchez@ibei.org (Carlos Sanchez. Research coordinator at IBEI).
