Vacancy: Senior Fellow (IEN) - CLOSED
The Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (IBEI) is seeking to appoint a Senior Fellow in American Foreign Policy and International Security. This is a 3-year position, with a possibility of extension, and the successful candidate is expected to start in September/October 2020. The salary range is between 40.000- 48.000€ per annum, depending on skills and experience.
IBEI is establishing a program on the foreign policy of the United States and international security, supported by the Barcelona based Institute of North-American Studies (IEN). The main objectives of this program are: 1) To contribute to public, academic, and expert discussions on US foreign policy and its global implications, focusing in particular on US foreign policy toward Europe and the MENA region, as well as transatlantic relations; 2) To promote research on US foreign policy and international security, deepening the knowledge of relevant strategic, geo-political and socio-economic aspects of this topic; and 3) To stimulate IBEI involvement in the area of American foreign policy and international security studies through research collaboration with internationally renowned scholars.
Candidates must have a PhD degree, an outstanding publications record in peer-reviewed journals and/or major scholarly presses, experience in convening research networks, facilitating connections between research, policy and practice, and disseminating core insights from academic research to different target audiences. Excellent inter-personal skills and an ability to contribute to collaborative research projects are also essential for this position. The Senior Fellow is expected to carry out scholarly research, promote policy debates and dissemination activities related to the program, participate in IBEI’s academic activities and research clusters, as well as deliver one course per semester in IBEI’s Master’s degree programmes (taught in English).
