The Master’s in International Development is a one-year, interdisciplinary programme that prepares students to understand and address global development challenges through both theoretical insight and practical skills. It provides strong training in research methods and analytical tools, with a focus on issues such as global governance, economic growth, sustainability, inequality, conflict, gender, and the climate crisis.
The curriculum of the Master’s in International Development combines academic rigor with real-world relevance. Core courses cover development theory, professional and analytical skills, and major global debates, while a wide range of over 60 electives allow students to specialize in areas such as trade, globalization, social movements, natural resource conflicts, and sustainable development. Practitioner-oriented modules offer hands-on experience in program design, evaluation, and policy analysis.
Courses are taught by an international faculty and visiting experts through lectures, seminars, and small-group tutorials. Students actively engage in presentations, group work, and assignments, and are supported by a personal tutor throughout the academic year. The programme also fosters transferable skills for careers in international organizations, public policy, NGOs, and academia.
Please note that the curriculum of the Master’s in International Development has been recently updated, starting from the academic year 2025-2026, to better align with current demands in the field of international development and to equip our students with the skills and knowledge that professionals in this sector will require in the coming years.
