Biography

Giovanni Dini is a PhD candidate in the program Politics, Policies and International Relations at the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB), having obtained a pre-doctoral contract from the Spanish Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness (FPI). His area of focus is the emerging governance of Artificial Intelligence in a context of a fragmented international order. He completed a master’s degree in International Relations at IBEI, where he wrote his thesis comparing the initial responses of three States to the COVID-19 pandemic. During this course, he also completed an internship with Dr. Eduard Soler at the Barcelona Centre for International Affairs (CIDOB). His research interests are various, ranging from comparative regionalism to crisis response, climate change policy and emerging technologies. Prior, Giovanni worked in research and development for a regional digital complementary currency start-up in Sardinia, Italy, and in education in Vietnam and the UK.
