Roundtable | The Geopolitics of Security

Wednesday October 30, 2024, at 18:00
CaixaForum Sevilla, C. López Pintado, s/n, 41092 Sevilla
Conference

Esther Barbé (UAB-IBEI), Adam Holesch (IBEI), Angela Kane (Nuclear Threat Initiative). Chair: Rafael García Pérez (UPO)

IS THE WORLD ON THE BRINK OF A CATASTROPHE?

The Russian invasion of Ukraine or China's increasingly explicit threats to Taiwan... The world seems to have entered an increasingly tense and insecure phase, marked by a growing rivalry between powers. The EU High Representative, Josep Borrell, controversially described Europe as a garden of prosperity and stability, surrounded by a jungle without law and order.

The speakers will analyse the causes of the transition towards a less stable international order, as well as the implications for European security.
