The Consul General at the United States in Barcelona, Katie Stana, visits the IBEI
The Consul General at the United States in Barcelona, Katie Stana, has learned first-hand about the activities and projects of the Institut Barcelona d'Estudis Internacionals (IBEI), its lines of research and training, and its inter-university nature.
The Consul has met with the president and director of IBEI, together with Jeffrey Michaels, IEN Senior Fellow in American Foreign Policy and International Security at IBEI, in charge of the IEN – IBEI program on American politics and international security.
Katie Stana assumed the position of Consul General at the United States Consulate General in Barcelona (Spain) on January 5, 2022. In his nearly 20-year diplomatic career, he has held important positions in the Department of State in Washington DC, such as Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Global Talent Management (2020-2021) or Chief of Staff to the Director General of the Foreign Service (2019-2020). She has also worked as a diplomat in the embassies in Pakistan (as International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Director), Italy (as Supervisory General Services Officer at Embassy Rome), Turkey and Uruguay. She has a degree in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia and a master's degree in National Security Strategy from the National War College.
