Vacancy | Postdoc position (BRIDGEGAP Project) - CLOSED

The Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (IBEI) invites applications for a 18-months postdoctoral position in global governance. This position is part of the project "BRIDGEGAP: Bridging the Gaps in Evidence, Regulation, and Impact of Anticorruption Policies". Funded by the Horizon Europe Program, BRIDGEGAP theoretically and empirically examines the knowledge gaps in the study of corruption and undue practices. It also addresses regulatory and impact gaps, thereby bridging the academia-policy gap in corruption studies.

The search is open to scholars with an interest in the global governance of corruption and related topics. These may include international cooperation on anti-corruption policies, the use of sanctions and other instruments at the global level, and the intersection with international security issues. A particular focus of the local research team is cross-country corruption in Africa, as a case study about external influence of major powers.

Successful applicants must have obtained their PhD in political science, international relations, or related fields before the start date. However, an appointment as a pre-doctoral researcher is possible until the PhD is conferred. Applicants must possess excellent English language skills, encompassing both oral and written fluency. The postdoctoral researcher will be an integral member of the BRIDGEGAP team at the Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (IBEI), working in Barcelona. We are committed to fostering synergies between the research agenda of the postdoctoral researcher and the BRIDGEGAP project, as well as supporting his/her academic career development.

Review of applications will commence on March 14, 2025, and will continue until the position is filled. The anticipated start date for this position is no later than March 31, 2024.

🖊️ Applications must be submitted through the Application Form and it should include:

  • A current CV
  • Two letters of reference
  • A cover letter explaining your research interests and academic background
