The Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (IBEI) is seeking a highly motivated project manager to join part-time our team under the project “NEAR-ER: Network on Europe-Africa Relations – Education and Research” This project is supported by the Erasmus+ program and focuses on promoting dialogue and understanding between the EU and Africa through research and academic collaboration.

The NEAR-ER project brings together 20 prestigious institutions from Europe and Africa to address key challenges and opportunities in the relationship between these regions.

The project has the goal of advancing a broad and well-informed conversation on EU-Africa relations by collecting, reviewing, debating, and disseminating innovative research and education materials. It includes innovative academic activities, active production of research, teaching material and social media content, as well as engagement with stakeholders across both regions.

Responsibilities

The project manager will contribute to development the main tasks of the project, namely data collection on relevant research and educational material related to Europe-Africa relations, and to conduct an expert survey about EU-Africa relations, among other network-related activities.

The successful candidate will also manage the operational and administrative aspects of the project, including coordinating and maintaining communication with project partners and stakeholders, the organization of network events, and supporting the project’s dissemination and communication activities.

Requirements

• A Master’s degree in political science, international relations, law, the humanities, or a related field.
• Knowledge about African development policies, African social, political and economic challenges, as well as relations between Europe and Africa.
• Proven experience in project management, preferably within an academic or international cooperation context. Experience with expert surveys is a plus.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken). Fluency in French and Spanish are also welcomed.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in diverse and multicultural teams.

Position Details

• Location: Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals, Barcelona, Spain.
• Duration: 18 months, 18 hours per week
• Start Date: February 2025
