Our custom-made digital platform provides an interactive experience for the live sessions and networking to take place, and an all-in-one space for off-line curated materials to follow at your own pace.
Small group teaching to maximize engagement
The Summer School has limited seats, based on a focused format and relatively small groups, maximizing the interactions between participants and lecturers. Additionally, this style allows for engagement opportunities
Live Sessions
Lectures are organized following 10 different substantive modules:
- Introduction to Science and Technology Diplomacy
- Science and Technology Diplomacy in the Mediterranean
- European Science Diplomacy
- National Approaches in Science Diplomacy
- City-led Science Diplomacy
- Role-play in Science Diplomacy
- Technology Diplomacy
- Global Health Diplomacy
- Climate Change Diplomacy
- Careers in Science Diplomacy
Each module has about 2.5-3h of live sessions a day during two weeks (starting at 17.00 GMT+1). This means more than 30 hours of live sessions.
Off-line sessions
Each module is complemented by about 1 to 1.5 hours of off-line work through the interactive digital platform. Off-line work includes listening to pre-recorded short lectures and interviews covering relevant material from the topic at stake, readings, quizzes, forums and more.
Professional development & Career Mentoring
Drawing from the understanding that current global challenges need a multidisciplinary, cross-cultural approach, participants will be able to gain hands-on knowledge with practical sessions on science diplomacy skills, international negotiations role-play simulation and networking activities to effectively their careers in science diplomacy. Two modules are specifically designed to achieve such an outcome: a role-play simulation in Science Diplomacy, and a module on Careers in Science Diplomacy. The course also offers small group mentorship sessions with speakers.
Networking
Embedded in our two-week-long program are activities designed to make sure participants get the chance to know each other and have deep and extensive dialogues with peers and experts, making the most of our interactive digital platform.
