Vacancy: Senior Fellow (IEN)
The Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (IBEI) is inviting applications for the position of Senior Fellow in American Foreign Policy and International Security. This is a 3-year appointment, with the potential for extension, and the successful candidate will commence in September 2025. The salary offered ranges from €45,000 to €55,000 per annum, commensurate with the candidate’s skills and experience.
For the last four years, the IBEI has developed a program focused on the foreign policy of the United States and international security, with the support of the Institute of North-American Studies (IEN) based in Barcelona. The program aims to:
- Foster public, academic, and expert discourse on US foreign policy and its global impact, particularly regarding US relations with Europe, the MENA region, and transatlantic affairs.
- Promote research on US foreign policy and international security, with an emphasis on strategic, geopolitical, and socio-economic dimensions.
- Enhance IBEI’s role in American foreign policy and international security studies through collaborations with internationally renowned scholars.
Qualifications and Expectations:
Candidates must hold a PhD and demonstrate an outstanding track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and/or leading scholarly presses. They should also have proven experience in leading and participating in research networks, bridging the gap between academic research, policy, and practice, and communicating research insights to diverse audiences.
In addition to strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, the Senior Fellow will be expected to:
- Conduct scholarly research related to US foreign policy and international security.
- Participate in policy debates and contribute to dissemination efforts under the program.
- Engage in IBEI’s academic activities and research clusters.
- Teach 75 hours a year in IBEI’s master’s programs (in English).
