Biography

Gabriel Cohen is a PhD candidate in the program of Political and Social Sciences at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. He joined IBEI under the supervision of Dr. Andrea C. Bianculli as a Joan Oró predoctoral research fellow (FI) funded by the Catalan Agency for Management of University and Research Grants (AGAUR). Gabriel holds a Master in Transnational Governance from the European University Institute, as well as a dual bachelor's degree in History and International Affairs from the University of Nevada, Reno. His research interests include Latin American politics, Brazilian foreign policy, and the international political economy of great power competition. His doctoral dissertation “After the commodities boom: Sino–European Investment in Brazil & Argentina” maps out the constellations of actors which shape foreign direct investment trends in major South American economies. Prior to arriving at IBEI, Gabriel has studied and worked as a journalist and analyst across Europe, the United States, and Latin America.
