Corporate Social Responsibility in South America from an Integration and Regulation Perspective

From January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2008

This project aims to analyses the extent to which multilateral and regional agreements – symmetrical or South-South and asymmetrical or North-South – have boosted the creation of positive standards or regulations in the corporate sphere in Latin America.

Trade negotiations no longer only seek to integrate markets and expand trade, but more and more to promote trade in other areas – basically services – and the creation and harmonisation of regulations in new policy areas. Based on this notion, "Corporate Social Responsibility in South America. From the point of view of integration and regulation" offers an alternative and novel perspective as regards the study of corporate social responsibility (CSR). It looks at this matter from an area hardly explored until now: the interrelationship between trade agreements and domestic regulatory institutions, focusing on the structuring of rules regarding CSR.
