Descripció
Students will be introduced to international migration by focusing on the main trends in origin countries (Part I), the role of the state in receiving countries (Part II) and the main inter- and supra-state dynamics (Part III). This will be done by addressing key academic debates around questions as fundamental as why and where people migrate, how migration and development relate to each other, to what extent migration policies fail, whether irregular migration is despite or because of the state and how inter-governmental decisions and supra-national legal frameworks and organisations shape migration governance.
