With so many “emerging powers” on the UN Security Council, 2011 was always going to be an important year. But events, and especially the Security Council’s reaction to the Arab Spring, made it even more so. Paul Bentall, a British government expert on the Council, present his thoughts on the events of 2011, and what they reveal about the nature of the Security Council, its role in international politics and the prospects for its future evolution.
