During the course of the academic year 2021/22 IBEI hosts a series of lectures by practitioners in the field of international relations and development.

The practitioner seminar series is intended to give IBEI students and attendees an opportunity to engage with international professionals about their personal work experience, the organizations they represent, and to learn about possible career trajectories in international governmental and non-governmental organizations. Each lecture will allow ample room for questions and inputs from the audience.

Kristin Eitel is part of the Migration and Sustainable Development team at the International Organization for Migration (IOM), based in IOM Headquarters in Geneva. She helps lead the team’s engagement with the UN Network on Migration, which was established to provide effective, timely and coordinated UN system-wide support to Member States to implement the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM). Specifically, Kristin serves as coordinator for two core working groups of the United Nations Network on Migration. In her role, Kristin helps facilitate multi-stakeholder collaboration to provide governments, the UN system and other stakeholders with dedicated support, technical assistance, and capacity building for GCM implementation, follow up, and review. In line with IOM’s institutional strategy on migration and sustainable development, Kristin works to ensure that GCM implementation helps accelerate progress towards achieving the 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She also contributes to GCM and SDG capacity building initiatives within IOM. Kristin’s background is in community engagement, having spent many years working in educational and not-for-profit organizations in the United States and Europe. Her experience includes fundraising, communications, volunteer and board management, private sector philanthropic engagement, teaching, project management, and research. Prior to joining IOM, Kristin worked with the Migration team at Barcelona Centre for International Affairs (CIDOB). Kristin holds a Masters degree in International Development from the Instituto Barcelona de Estudios Internacionales (IBEI) and a Bachelor's degree in Communication from George Mason University.
